Executive Team
Narinder Bajwa, Executive Vice President of Operations
Narinder Joined Touchdown Technologies in March 2007 and brings a wealth of experience in scaling up high technology startup manufacturing operations. Narinder has over 20 years experience building worldwide operation organizations and manufacturing systems. Most recently he led Fabrinet Canada Manufacturing as Vice President and GM Operations. Prior to working with Fabrinet, Narinder held several management positions in disk drive companies; Vice President Supplier Quality Engineering at Maxtor Corporation, Vice President Engineering Operations at Read Rite International, Vice President Quality and Reliability at Read Rite Corporation, and Vice President Manufacturing Systems at Read Rite Corporation. Narinder started his career as a Tester Development Engineer with Cybernex and then developed to the executive level with Read Rite Corporation as they grew form a startup to a multinational billion-dollar company. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, has completed business management classes from AEA Stanford & EDC Santa Clara Universities, is a Member of CQM West California and has successfully implemented Six Sigma, TQM, ISO 9000/14000 and demand based manufacturing systems.
Ken Karklin, Vice President New Products and Applications
Ken joined Touchdown Technologies in 2007 and is a recognized veteran with over 13 years in semiconductor test. At Intel Corporation, Ken was an early member of Intel's Test Tooling Operation and participated in the development and world-wide factory implementation of next generation test interfacing, advanced probe cards, and final test-tooling for Intel's flagship microprocessors and flash memory products.
Ken later joined Hewlett Packard Company and was responsible for the Memory ATE Division's R&D of Test System Interfaces for wafer sort and high-speed DRAM final test. His team was responsible for electromechanical design and development on the company's Memory ATE systems inclusive of third-party and customer integration for wafer probe and final test. Spun-off from HP in 2001 as part of Agilent Technologies, his role expanded to lead all aspects of test cell integration/system R&D on three generations of commercially successful ATE platforms within a period of 6 years.
Ken is a graduate of Agilent's Accelerated Management Development Program and a six-year Program Committee Member of the IEEE SWTW. He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Nim Tea Ph.D., Vice President of Product Development
Nim Tea is a founding member of Touchdown Technologies and has over a decade of experience in management, product development, manufacturing, technical marketing and sales with medical device and semiconductor industries. He has a successful track record in product development and engineering at startups and large multinational companies. From 2000 to 2003, he was a director of product development at Integrated Micromachines and was responsible for the tunable micro-mirror arrays for network topology testing. Before joining Integrated Micromachines, he was a product manager at MRG developing a constant flow infusion pump for drug delivery and also made significant contributions to the long-term implantable glucose sensor leading to the acquisition of MRG by Medtronic. Nim has also won a National Research Council fellowship at NIST/Gaithersburg Semiconductor Division to design, fabricate, and test MEMS microwave components and chemical gas sensors. Nim holds a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Experimental Condense Matter Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and B.A.s in Physics and Mathematics from Northwestern University.
Brian Flowers, Vice President of Finance
Brian is a Certified Public Accountant with over ten years of experience in public and private accounting. He spent four years in public accounting with KPMG LLP where he primarily served publicly traded high-tech and software clients. Brian entered the private sector as Controller for Digital Entertainment Network, a venture funded entertainment startup backed by Chase Capital Entertainment Partners. He has spent the last 5 years as the Controller and subsequently as VP Finance for Touchdown Technologies, a startup in the probecard and wafer test market. Brian has extensive experience dealing with the financing and accounting needs of venture-backed startup companies. He has a B.S. in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University.
Greg Medrick, Vice President of Sales and Support
Greg has 21 years of Semiconductor Test and Failure Analysis Industry experience in Test and Applications Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Business Unit Management. He started his Test career as an Engineer, moved into Marketing Applications Engineering and launched his Sales career with a major ATE tester company. Greg's more than 10 years of direct probe card industry experience began in 1995 where he was a key Sales and Sales Management contributor to the growth of Cerprobe Corporation over the following 5 years increasing annual revenues from $17M to >$140M. He held the position of North American Director of Sales with Cerprobe and Director of Customer Operations following the acquisition of Cerprobe by Kulicke & Soffa. Greg's Sales successes led to the position of VP Marketing & GM Vertical Test Business Unit for K&S. Greg Joined TdT in January 2005 as VP Sales and Support.
Heather Karklin, Director of Marketing
Heather has over a dozen years of engineering experience in development, manufacturing, sales and marketing, six of those years in wafer probe. She started her career at Intel Corporation managing development of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. She has also been the West Coast Regional Sales Manager for Tokyo Electron, an industry leader in semiconductor manufacturing and testing equipment, including wafer probers. Her broad experience includes two start-up ventures including her position as Product Development Engineering Manager at Innoventry. Heather holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
